What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes. They are are individually attached to your natural eyelash, not to the skin.

How Long do the Eyelash Extensions Last?

When you see your lashes falling out, you might assume that your lash extensions damaged your natural lashes and now they’re falling. The truth? Lash shed is a part of the natural lash cycle and everything is all right! Some people shed more than others; in certain seasons (expect more shedding than usual in the spring & fall), during/after pregnancy, or when hormones in your body change. So as your natural lashes fall out due to the growth cycle, you will need refills when new lashes grow.

After your first full set of eyelashes extensions, it is best to come in for your fill after two weeks. As you become accustomed to the extensions, the time between refills can be extended to 3 weeks. Majority of my clients come for their fills every 2-3 weeks.

Do they Damage my Natural Eyelashes?

No, not at all! The lash adhesive is formulated to create a solid bond. The adhesive dries very soft on the lashes, allowing the lashes to stay flexible and bouncy just like your own lashes.

What do I need to do before coming to my appointment?

  • If possible, avoid caffeine the day of your appointment or at least right before your appointment—caffeine can cause the eyelids to flutter or move when the eyes are shut, making it difficult to apply the extensions and at times, uncomfortable for you. Same principle applies towards lash lifts.

  • You also will want to avoid coming on an empty stomach or only consuming caffeine. This will make it difficult to relax.

  • Please arrive to your appointment with clean lashes—no mascara or makeup residue. Be aware that if you don't arrive with clean lashes, it will take time to properly cleanse the lashes, taking away from precious time that could be spent applying lashes! There is a bathroom at the studio so if you know that you need to cleanse your lashes prior to your appointment, you can come in early and use it if need be! Also be aware that some cleansers contain oils and leave an oily residue on your lashes. If you remove your makeup right before your appointment, there is a chance that your retention could be affected by that. I will do my best to cleanse and prep the lashes, but oil can be stubborn!

  • Do not lift/perm or curl your lashes with a curler before or after lash extension application.

  • Plan to set aside enough time for the duration of your appointment.

  • Please refrain from wearing contacts during your appointment-- bring your glasses if possible.

  • If you have your own music or a book you would like to listen to, you may bring your own headphones or you can connect to my sound system.

  • You can also read over this after care instruction sheet. I will give you one at the time of your appointment as well and ask you to fill out this consent form. If you wish to, you can print it out at home and come to your appointment with it filled out, or at least read it over at home so you can fill it out quicker!

After your appointment...

  • Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours- avoid: steam, hot showers, facials, saunas, working out, and swimming pools.

  • Do not tug, pull or play with your lashes. Oils on our hands can affect the retention of the glue and touching them can also increase the spread of harmful bacteria to the eyes

  • Don’t use mascara or an eyelash curler on your lashes. Mascara is very hard to remove, breaks down adhesive, and interferes with the bond of next application.

  • Cleanse and brush your lashes daily!

  • Avoid using oil-based products around your eye area—cleanse with a 100% oil free cleanser. Oils will break down your adhesive which will result in your lashes not having the retention it should have.

  • Do not try to remove the extensions on your own.

  • Book your fill! We recommend regular touch-up appointments every 2-3 weeks to maintain desired fullness. If you wait more than 4 weeks to get a fill, a full set will be required.

  • If you have any concerns or questions about unusual symptoms (or any other general questions), please contact us immediately or contact your physician.
